SUDHAKAR DHEENAN
Born in the spiritual destination of India, Temple city, Kancheepuram,Sudhakar started his spiritual and physical pursuit of yoga at the age of 11. Through apprenticeship under the famous yogi Swami Chandrananda, he was enlightened with profound knowledge of yoga.
At the age of 15, he finished his teacher training at the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre and was awarded the title of “Yoga Bhaskara” (Best Teacher). In 2001, he received another accolade of “Yoga Yogacharya”(Master of Yoga. M.Y.) for his outstanding performance both as a student and a teacher trainer. Post-training, he ran non-profit yoga institute in India to fulfill his life mission of spreading the world of yoga.
Sudhakar’s teaching emphasizes on ancient yogic techniques, inherited from his masters and siddhars. Sudhakar founded the school of yoga called Dheesan, with roots in Hatha. It differentiates itself from other schools in its emphasis of the use intelligence in yoga. Dheesan yoga has been extremely well received as it stresses bringing intelligence to practice and overcoming fears.
Through his teaching, he wishes to bring the benefits of yoga to his students in the same way that he has benefited. It can be life changing, of course for the better. Having taught in Hong Kong for five years, Sudhakar has successfully created a circle of dedicated yogis. It was through his classes, his sessions at the Asia Yoga Conference, his workshops and his recent teacher training programs that these like minded individuals join together in union.
Since November 2008, he has organized 200-hour Yoga Alliance recognized teaching training programs at Pure Yoga in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore.
